Healthy Snacks to Bring to the Beach!

When going to the beach, it easy to fall victim to unhealthy foods and overindulge simply because you’re on vacation. The aroma of ice cream, fries, salt water taffy, popcorn, and other boardwalk treats tempt you from your comfortable beach chair. Instead of splurging on these unhealthy snacks, why not pack your own? Here are some snacks that are not only nutritious, but can also keep your family cool under the hot sun:

  • Fresh fruit such as watermelon, grapes, or berries. Why not pair some peanut butter with an apple or banana to add some protein? 
  • Freeze pops 
  • Nuts such as almonds, pistachios, walnuts, cashews, or peanuts
  • Granola bars–look for bars that contain around 5 grams of protein and fiber to keep you fuller for longer
  • Raw veggies such as cucumber, carrots, celery, and bell peppers 
  • Low-fat cheese 

And of course, don’t forget to stay hydrated with some water! Add all of these snacks to a cooler to keep them cool and to prevent food borne illness. Hope you and your family have a fun and healthy trip to the beach!
