Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats and skim milk are all staples to a healthy diet.  What about YOGURT?!  Yogurt has many healthy qualities and is yummy too!

  1. Yogurt comes from milk so you are getting the benefit of dairy nutrients.  Yogurt eaters get an extra serving of animal protein, calcium, Vitamin B2 and B12, Potassium and Magnesium.
  2. Yogurt contains probiotics.  Probiotics are the “friendly bacteria.”  This bacterium keeps your digestive tract health and regular.
  3. Yogurt is heart healthy.  Consuming fat free or low fat yogurt daily can lower your risk of developing high blood pressure.

Yogurt tip: Stick to plain Greek or regular yogurt and add your own fruit and sweetener (honey, Splenda, Truvia, or agave syrup) in order to avoid added sugar.
