Natural vs. Artificial Flavors

Natural: The flavor is derived from natural substances such as fruit, vegetables, and spices. These natural ingredients are then transformed into chemical components. Seeing the label “natural flavoring” isn’t always so great, this means the created flavor is naturally derived but is NOT naturally found in that food.

Artificial: Artificial flavoring is a concoction of chemicals that give a food the taste the manufacturer wants. For example, strawberry flavor contains 49 ingredients! Most of them very difficult to pronounce.

Tip: Eat foods where you can pronounce all the ingredients on the nutrition label. Also, cooking at home instead of purchasing ready made products will reduce the amount of artificial flavors you and your family consumes.
